Le Mas Du Plantaurel dates from circa 1750. The farmhouse is situated in a particularly charming Ariege village in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The village has about 10 well maintained family homes, some ancient barns, a recently restored 12th century chapel and graveyard, village tennis court and football pitch. The village is scattered with lovingly tended flowerbeds and vintage streetlamps. It is extremely peaceful as there is very little road traffic.
The surrounding fields and meadows are home to the local farmer's cows, horses, the odd donkey and a Shetland pony. In winter the fields are invariably dusted with snow and in summer they seem to overflow with sunflowers. There are many lovely walks to be enjoyed straight from the front door (from day long trecks into the hills towards neighbouring hamlets or just gentle strolls around the village). Please refer to the House Folder for suggestions on local walking routes.
